Free Colon Cancer Screening Kits during Middlesboro ARH Drive-Thru Event
on October 2

Middlesboro ARH Hospital will offer free colon cancer screening kits to seniors 50 years of age and up during its first drive-thru screening event set for October 2, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the MRI/Rehab/Cardiac Catheterization entrance.

If you are 50 years or older and have not had a colon cancer screening in the past year and you are not currently having symptoms indicative of colon cancer, then you are eligible to participate in this drive-thru event.

Symptoms of colon cancer can include diarrhea, constipation, blood in stool, fatigue, unexplained weight loss, abdominal pain and bloating.

Those eligible to participate will receive a free FIT kit. The fecal immunochemical test (FIT) is a screening test for colon cancer. It tests for hidden blood in the stool, which can be an early sign of cancer. FIT only detects human blood from the lower intestines. Medicines and food do not interfere with the test. This FIT kit provides instructions on how to take the stool sample and mail it in to receive your results.

“Middlesboro ARH is pleased to offer this free at-home colon cancer screening kit,” said Michael Slusher, Middlesboro ARH Community CEO. “If you are eligible to participate, please come through our drive-thru and get your kit. This free FIT kit is only available for this one day.”

The drive-thru event will be set up at the MRI/Rehab/Cardiac Catheterization entrance at Middlesboro ARH Hospital, located at 3600 Cumberland Avenue. If you have any questions, call 606.242.1101.
